Renting a hyperbaric chamber is increasingly common for patients who want to try HBOT at home before buying, need a chamber for a defined treatment course, or want to keep monthly costs predictable. This guide covers real 2025-2026 rental rates from named providers and a clear comparison of rental versus purchase versus clinic sessions.
Soft-shell hyperbaric chamber rentals cost $900-$1,500 per month in the United States in 2025-2026. Hard-shell rentals, when available, run $2,500-$4,000/month. Most programs require a 1-3 month minimum and a security deposit equal to 1-2 months rent.1
Rental Pricing by Provider (2025-2026)
Starting rental rate (Lannx/Newtowne standard soft)
Effective cost at $1,000/month with unlimited daily use
3-month rental cost (vs $6,000-$10,000 clinic sessions)
Typical rental-vs-purchase break-even point
| Provider | Model/Type | Monthly Cost | Initial Payment | Min Term |
|---|---|---|---|---|

| Airvida Pro 90 Sitting | Soft-shell sitting | ~$500/month | $1,500 for 3-month package | 3 months |
| General market (hard-shell) | Hard-shell | $2,500-$4,000 | Deposit required | 1-3 months |
Rental vs. Clinic vs. Purchase: Cost Comparison for a 40-Session Protocol
“At a typical clinic session cost of $200, a monthly chamber rental at $1,000 can save $3,000 or more in the first month alone, with unlimited home use.”
HBOTBlog.com, 2025
| Option | Total Cost (40 sessions) | Per-Session Equivalent | Pros | Cons |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Clinic sessions (independent) | $6,000-$10,000 | $150-$250 | Professional supervision, high pressure | Travel required, most expensive per session |
| 3-month rental (soft-shell) | $2,700-$4,500 | $68-$113 | Convenient, moderate cost, maintenance included | Lower pressure (1.3-1.5 ATA), self-administered |
| Chamber purchase ($5,000-$10,000) | $5,000-$10,000 (first protocol) | $125-$250 (first protocol) | Long-term investment, unlimited use | Upfront cost, maintenance responsibility, resale uncertainty |
Rental vs. Purchase: When Each Makes Sense
Rent if: You are trying HBOT for the first time, your need is for 1-3 months (specific recovery, defined treatment course), or your budget cannot absorb a $5,000-$15,000 purchase upfront.
Buy if: You plan to use the chamber consistently for 6+ months, you have already confirmed HBOT benefits through clinical sessions or a rental period, or you have an ongoing condition that will require long-term use.
Break-even point: Most rental costs break even with a purchase price at 6-12 months of rental. At $1,200/month, renting for 8 months costs $9,600, roughly equivalent to buying a mid-range soft-shell chamber outright.2
“For most patients needing 20-40 HBOT sessions, renting a home chamber for 2-3 months costs roughly half what the equivalent clinic sessions would.”
HBOTBlog.com, 2025
Typical Rental Terms
- Minimum lease: Usually 1 month; some programs require 3 months
- Security deposit: Typically 1-2 months rent (refunded on return)
- Delivery and setup: Sometimes included, sometimes extra ($200-$500)
- Return shipping: Usually renter’s responsibility ($200-$500)
- Maintenance: Typically included in rental fee
- Rent-to-own: Many providers allow monthly payments to apply toward purchase
Hard-Shell Rental Availability
Hard-shell chamber rentals are significantly less common than soft-shell rentals. When available, they run $2,500-$4,000/month. Most rental programs exclusively offer soft-shell chambers at 1.3-1.5 ATA. If you need 2.0+ ATA treatment, clinic sessions are likely your only practical option.

Hidden Costs in a Rental Agreement
The advertised monthly rate does not reflect total cost. Budget for these additional expenses when calculating your rental spend:
- Security deposit: $995 to $1,995 upfront, refunded on return if the chamber is undamaged.
- Delivery fee: $0 to $300 depending on provider and distance. Some include shipping in the monthly rate.
- Return shipping: $200 to $500 (almost always the renter’s responsibility).
- Oxygen concentrator rental: $200 to $400/month if not included. Most rental packages do not include one.
- Electricity: $0.50 to $1.00 per session for the compressor. At daily use, expect $15 to $30/month.
A “true cost” estimate for a 3-month soft-shell rental at $1,000/month: $1,000 deposit + $3,000 rent + $300 concentrator rental (3 months) + $300 return shipping = $4,600 total. Divide by 90 daily sessions and the effective per-session cost is $51. Compare that to $150 to $300 per session at a clinic, and the rental still provides significant savings for high-frequency users.
Monthly Budget Examples
| Usage Level | Sessions/Month | Rental + Extras | Effective Per-Session | Clinic Equivalent |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Light (3x/week) | 12 | ~$1,250 | ~$104 | $2,400 at $200/session |
| Moderate (5x/week) | 20 | ~$1,300 | ~$65 | $4,000 at $200/session |
| Daily | 30 | ~$1,350 | ~$45 | $6,000 at $200/session |
The more frequently you use the chamber, the lower the effective per-session cost. Rental economics favor daily or near-daily users. If you plan fewer than 8 sessions per month, the cost advantage over clinic visits narrows substantially.
Negotiating Better Rental Terms
Rental pricing is not fixed. Authorized dealers have margin on multi-month commitments. Strategies that work:
- Commit to 3+ months upfront for a 10 to 15% discount. Airvida’s 3-month package pricing ($417/month vs. single-month rates) reflects this.
- Ask about rent-to-own conversion rates. If 80 to 100% of rent applies toward purchase, a 6-month rental can functionally become a financed purchase.
- Bundle the oxygen concentrator. Some dealers discount the concentrator rental when bundled with the chamber.
- Request waived delivery or return fees on commitments of 3 months or longer.

Geographic Price Variation
Rental rates are largely standardized because most providers ship nationally. However, local pickup options in major metros (Los Angeles, Dallas, Miami, New York) can save $200 to $500 in shipping fees. Some providers based in California and Texas offer same-day or next-day delivery for local customers. If a provider is within driving distance, ask about local pickup pricing. The savings on shipping alone can offset half a month’s rent on a short-term lease.
For patients outside the US, rental options are limited. UK-based Origin Oxygen offers rentals starting at approximately GBP 600/month. Australian and European markets have fewer dedicated rental providers, making purchase or clinic visits the more practical options in those regions. See our Australia HBOT guide for regional pricing.
